Student Affairs: Class Absences

Student Affairs responsibility regarding absences is to verify the absence and notify the student’s professors during emergency situations when the student is unable to do so themselves.  Discretion on whether the absence is excused and opportunities for makeup exams and coursework reside with the course professor.

In the case of emergencies, including but not limited to a death in the family or health related issues, the student or student’s parent or legal guardian MUST CALL  the Student Affairs office at 660-785-4111. Email notification will not be accepted.  Once the absence is verified, an email will be sent to the student’s professors with the student and advisor copied.  After the email is sent, it is the student’s responsibility to keep in constant contact with their professors to update them on their situation and discuss missed coursework.
