CRRSAA FAQ

Who is eligible for the CRRSAA grant?

Based on current Department of Education guidance, Pell Grant eligible students were automatically awarded a block grant amount if they did not fall into one of the below categories. These students were not required to submit a CRRSAA application to receive grant funds. Additionally, non-Pell Grant eligible students with a valid 2020-2021 FAFSA on file with unmet need of $100 or more were determined to be eligible for emergency CRRSAA grant funds if they did not fall into one of the following categories:

  • Not Title IV eligible due to Satisfactory Academic Progress issue
  • Unresolved C flag on 2020-2021 FAFSA
  • Enrolled in less than 6 credit hours for Spring 2021
  • Withdrawn from Spring 2021
  • Non-degree seeking

Non-Pell Grant eligible students are required to submit a CRRSAA grant application.

Where is the CRRSAA grant application located?

The CRRSAA grant application is located on TruView, Student tab, Student Finances section, ‘Scholarships, Financial Aid & Loans’ tab, click Online Acceptance (View/Accept Financial Aid), click ‘COVID Relief Fund Request Form’.

How much CRRSAA grant funding will I receive?

A limited amount of grant funding was received.  Grant amounts will be determined based on the number of applications received and the specific needs presented in the applications.  The grant amount will need to fit within the cost of attendance for eligible students who are required to submit an application.  Truman State University cannot guarantee that all applications submitted will be eligible for funding.

How will I know the results of my application?

Our goal is to award emergency grants as soon as possible.  Please monitor your Truman email and student account for information regarding your CRRSAA grant application.

How do I receive the money?

Emergency grants will be processed through student accounts.  If you elected to have the grant apply towards your student account fees due to the University, it will be disbursed and applied accordingly.  If there is a credit balance once fees are paid, a refund will be processed for you.  If you elected to have the entirety of the grant refunded to you and not applied toward your student account fees due to the University, it will be directly deposited into your designated bank account if you have signed up for direct deposit refunds.  Students without direct deposit will receive a printed check mailed to their permanent address on file.

What if I have a balance due on my student account?

If you elected to have the grant apply towards your student account fees due to the University, it will be disbursed and applied accordingly.  If there is a credit balance once fees are paid, a refund will be processed for you.  If you elected to have the entirety of the grant refunded to you and not applied toward your student account fees due to the University, it will be directly deposited into your designated bank account if you have signed up for direct deposit refunds.  Students without direct deposit will receive a printed check mailed to their permanent address on file.  To sign up for direct deposit refunds, log onto TruView, Student Tab, Student Finances section, click ‘Student Account Suite’, Refunds Tab, click ‘Set Up Account’.

Do I need to repay the CRRSAA grant?

No, money received through this fund does not need to be repaid.  This fund does not impact nor replace any financial aid you may currently receive, and it is a one-time grant.

If I receive a grant from the CRRSAA Act HEERF II, is it taxable?

No.  Emergency financial aid grants under the CRRSAA Act are qualified disaster relief payments per the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and will not be taxable.

How many times can I apply?

Currently, an eligible student may submit one CRRSAA application for an emergency grant.  If Truman State University is given additional funding from the CRRSAA Act, students will be notified and will be able to reapply for additional grant assistance at that time.

What if I am not eligible, or attempt to apply but do not receive a CRRSAA Act grant, but still have financial need?

Students who are not eligible, or attempt to apply but do not receive a CRRSAA Act grant, but still have financial need, should contact the Financial Aid Office at finaid@truman.edu or at 660-785-4130.  Students can also find financial aid information online at financialaid.truman.edu.
