Why did you choose Truman?

I chose Truman because of the MAE program here. I wish to someday become a history teacher, and I felt that this program was the perfect one for me.

Why did you choose your major?

I have always enjoyed history as a subject and because of my desire to hopefully inspire others in their lives. I feel that teaching high schoolers is a perfect way to accomplish that goal.

The things I like about my academic department are….

I really enjoy the History Department for so many reasons but to pick out a few it would be that the teachers really do care about their students and their future. The department is also very well organized, and the amount of choice in what classes you can take always astounds me. I love how one can find a field they are interested in and keep exploring it.

What student organizations and clubs have you been involved with?

I have been involved with the Philosophy and Religion Club here on campus for two years, and I am currently the president of the Historical Society here on campus.

What is your typical day like as a Truman student?

Going to class, getting some work done, and then enjoying spending time with my friends.

What are your plans after Truman?

I will most likely try to teach in my hometown or the surrounding area, maybe continue my education and get a Master’s in history.

Do you have any advice for new students?

I would 100% try to join some clubs and find a good group of friends to experience college with. I would also recommend going to all the events SAB puts on. They are a great way to spice up a week and hang out with people.
