The Truman State Forensics Team offers various opportunities for both incoming and returning students to receive scholarship aid from the university foundation fund.

Aileen Corbin/Pi Kappa Delta Scholarship

• This scholarship was established in 1983 as a memorial to Aileen Corbin by her husband, William N. Corbin. He provided additional funding with a bequest of $10,000. Corbin retired from the Division of Language and Literature at Truman. William Corbin died in 1989. This award is meant to go to an outstanding student on the Truman Forensics Team, in either speech or debate, and who is a member of Pi Kappa Delta.

Craig V. Evans Memorial Debate Scholarship

• This scholarship was established on October 25, 2006 by Elizabeth Evans in memory of her late son, Craig V. Evans. Craig graduated valedictorian, summa cum laude, from Truman (formerly Northeast Missouri State University) in 1975, with a Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement and corrections and a minor in speech. Craig was a member of Blue Key, active in R.O.T.C. for four years, and a member of the debate team. At the time of his death, Craig served as general counsel for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Elizabeth Evans graduated from Truman in 1952 and 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of Arts degree in elementary education, respectively. This scholarship is intended to go to a Truman Forensics debater who maintains a minimum GPA of 3.75.

Amy Ayres Rosebery Debate Scholarship

• This scholarship fund was established in 2007 by Dr. Dean and Amy Rosebery of Kirksville, MO, to honor, recognize, and perpetuate Amy’s achievements as a member of the University’s debate team. Amy Ayres Rosebery, a native of Atlanta, MO, was top performer in oratory and debate contests at Truman State University in the early 1940s. Forensics continues to be one of the University’s signature programs. This scholarship is meant to be awarded to a full-time student who has attained sophomore or above status and is a member of the Truman Forensics Team in either debate or individual events.

Robert P. Newman Debate Scholarship

• This award honors Dr. Newman who has had a distinguished career as a professor of forensics and as a published author. While a student at Truman (from ’39 to ’41), Newman was active in forensics activities. This scholarship is intended to go to an incoming freshman or transfer debater and is renewable for up to three years.

Lincoln-Douglas Debate Scholarships

• Other general foundation awards are available for incoming freshmen or transfer students who show excellent potential for collegiate-level LD debate participation.
