Although most Truman students pursuing pre-dental studies opt to major in a basic science discipline such as biology, chemistry, or physics, applied health majors are also common such as health science and exercise science. Psychology, sociology, and any social science are also good majors for pre-dental students at Truman. It is not uncommon for majors in the humanities to be welcomed applicants and accepted into dental school.
Academic Advisors for Pre-Dental Students
It is essential that you become familiar with the different curricula and sequences available and ask your academic advisor how these fit within your interests and goals. Most disciplines have advisors who are specifically selected to advise students interested in pre-health fields, and you should make a point to visit them regarding your decision or any questions you might have. Truman has a Pre-Health Professions Coordinator, and you are free to contact her as well.
