When you pursue an astronomy minor, you explore one of the oldest natural sciences devoted to the study of celestial objects such as moons, planets, stars, nebulae, and galaxies. Topics cover apparent sky motions, the cultural relevance of astronomy, description and classification of stars and galaxies, and more. You also learn about astronomical instrumentation and have access to a wide array of telescopes at Truman’s Observatory located near campus at the University Farm. 

This minor allows you to develop technical skills and problem-solving experience you can apply to various work settings such as competitive science, technology, engineering, teaching, and many other fields.
