Step 1 – Choose Your Summer Session Now!
Orientation is required of all first-year students and offers you the opportunity to meet other first-year students, work with faculty and academic advisors on your fall semester course schedule, and become familiar with the residential living facilities.
Orientation sessions will fill quickly! We encourage you to complete the pre-orientation materials and communicate your orientation session preference as soon as possible. Please note that the availability of courses for enrollment will be the same for each session. Registering for an earlier session will not give students an advantage for enrollment.
You can submit your orientation session preferences and complete the pre-orientation materials through your Truman portal. If you have any questions or problems while completing your pre-orientation materials, please review the FAQ page or contact the Office of Admission at 660-785-4114 or admissions@truman.edu.
Step 2 – Complete Online Materials
Please note, pre-orientation items must be completed a minimum of two weeks before your orientation session. Students who complete the materials on time will be sent course recommendations electronically to review prior to their orientation session.
- Housing Application
The room placement process will begin in early April for students who have applied for housing, paid the housing fee/deposit, and selected a roommate. All students who submit the housing application and the housing fee/deposit will receive their first-year residence hall room assignment prior to orientation.
- Registration Agreement
Read and acknowledge that you will pay all university tuition and fees when due. Students who do not sign this agreement will not be able to enroll in classes for the fall semester.
- Social Security Number Verification
Verify your social security number is on file for scholarship renewal and tax requirements.
- Complete the Pre-Orientation Questionnaire (FAQ)
- Complete the Mathematics Placement Exam (FAQ)
- Complete the Foreign Language Placement Exam (FAQ)
- Submit Student ID Photo
Step 3 – Complete and Return Important Materials
Please complete the following items prior to your arrival for the semester.
- Financial Aid
Please submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you have not yet applied for need-based financial aid but plan to do so. Truman’s Title IV code is 002495. Included with financial aid letters, recipients will be instructed to submit the Award Acknowledgement form on TruView found on your Accepted Student tab in the Financial Aid box. The form also allows students to report receipt of private scholarships and apply for a Federal Direct Loan.
- Payment Arrangements
Fee payment information will be sent to new students before Orientation. Enrollment deposits are fully refundable until May 1st and Housing Deposits are refundable until August 1st should you cancel your admission to Truman.
- Health & Immunization History
Complete the Medical History Form, Insurance Form, and provide documentation of immunization available on the Health Center website.
- Final Transcripts
You may use the printable High School Transcript Request to conveniently notify your high school that your final transcript must be sent to the Office of Admission at Truman. Please ensure that your final high school transcript includes your spring grades.
If you have earned credit through another college or university, regulations require that you inform Truman about all college coursework previously earned or in progress. Please forward the College/University Transcript Request Form to the institution granting credit. This form should not be used to report credit earned through AP, IB, or CLEP exams. To report credit earned through these exams, please contact the appropriate testing agency to have official score reports sent to Truman’s Registrar. Truman State University’s CEEB code is 6483.
- Vehicle Registration
Information regarding vehicle registration is included in the Pre-Orientation packet. Vehicle registration can be completed via TruView only after July 1. If you choose to register your vehicle, your student account will be billed $130 for a parking decal. The decal will be in the packet you will receive at your residence hall on Move-In Day in August.
