The Rev Ian M Delinger (Chemistry ’92) grew up in both California and Western Nebraska. Part of the ‘Value Added’ era of NMSU-now-Truman, Ian was active in the Business Administration Club, Alpha Chi Sigma Chemistry Fraternity and undergraduate research in the then-emerging field of health and safety.
After graduation, he worked as a project manager in an environmental, health & safety consulting firm in San José, CA, serving mostly the semiconductor and related industries. After six years, he switched careers to corporate events management and marketing.
In 2001, Ian followed a call to ordained ministry. As a lifelong Episcopalian, he attended seminary in the Church of England in Cambridge. He was ordained Deacon in 2004 and Priest in 2005, served a parish in Manchester, UK, and then pioneered a new ministry as Chaplain to a satellite campus and a Healthcare faculty at the University of Chester. Ian returned to his native California in 2016 where he serves as Rector of St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in San Luis Obispo, CA, a city once recognized as the ‘Happiest City in America’.
Ian attributes the nurturing and encouraging culture of Truman for his ability and confidence to achieve wide-ranging moments of his life’s journey, and wishes to give back through strengthening alumni relations, particularly in California.
