An active teacher and performer throughout the Midwest for the past ten years, Dr. Kubin currently teaches cello, bass, string methods, and music theory at Truman State University. His former principal teachers include Hans Jorgen Jensen, Tanya Remenikova and Julie Zumsteg, and he has studied chamber music and orchestral repertoire with John Sharp, John Pegis, Peter Slowik and members or the Vermeer Quartet.
Past faculty positions include Northern Michigan University, the College of St. Catherine, and Gustavus Adolphus College. Dr. Kubin has been actively involved in a number of chamber ensembles including the Keweenaw String Quartet, Arius Chamber Music Society, Aurora Chamber Ensemble, the Superior Chamber Players, and the Sheridan Chamber Players, which performed on a live broadcast of the Dame Myra Hess concert series. He has performed with a number of orchestras including the Kansas City Symphony, Minnesota Opera, Minneapolis Pops Orchestra, Skylark Opera, Pine Mountain Festival Orchestra, Marquette Symphony, the Keweenaw Symphony and the Chicago Civic Orchestra.
