Dr. Edgar obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Valparaiso University, Master of Arts at the University of Kansas and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. She also completed post-doctoral studies at the National Institutes of Health in the Voice and Speech Section.
Truman welcomed Julia Edgar, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, as a full time assistant professor in communication disorders starting fall semester, 2012.
Dr. Edgar teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses including courses in research methodology, voice disorders, dysphagia, neural bases, and culminating experiences. She also co-teaches courses in speech science. Dr. Edgar supervises primarily voice and neurogenic disorders cases in the Truman State University Speech and Hearing Clinic.
Dr. Edgar has worked in a variety of clinical settings including free-standing rehabilitation hospitals, acute care hospitals, otolaryngology clinics, and skilled nursing facilities. She has held faculty positions at Louisiana State University and Arizona State University.
