CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY
ADMISSION AND ARTICULATION AGREEMENT
DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY (DPT) PROGRAM

Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions gives priority consideration for admission into each first year Physical Therapy class, beginning with the year 2017 entering class, to those students from Truman who meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled and complete all pre-physical therapy requirements at Truman prior to entry into the program. Classes taken that received college credit prior to high school graduation do not make students ineligible.
  • Maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average on all college coursework (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Complete biology, chemistry and at least one semester of physics by the end of the semester in which application to the program is made.
  • Achieve a minimum combined score of 300 on quantitative and verbal parts of the GRE.
  • Have completed an interview expressing an appropriate rationale and demonstrating interpersonal skills for the study and practice of physical therapy similar to that expected of other candidates.
  • Satisfy all Creighton SPAHP admission requirements:
    • PTCAS Application (www.ptcas.orq) submitted by January 1 of the academic year prior to the enrollment in the professional program with the following:
      • An official transcript must be received from each institution the application has attended and/or is currently attending to be sent to PTCAS.
        • Three letters of recommendation (one recommendation must be from a physical therapist).
        • Proof of a minimum of 60 hours of observation supervised by a physical therapist.
      • Actively working towards completion of all prerequisites listed below.

      Required Prerequisites:

      1. Human Physiology-3 semester hours:
         
        BIOL 325 Human Physiology with Lab (4 hours) OR
        BIOL 214/215 Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II (8 hours)

      3. General Biology I and II-lecture and lab, minimum of 8 semester hours:
         
        BIOL 107 Introductory Biology I with Lab (4 hours) BIOL 108 Introductory Biology II with Lab (4 hours) Note: Other Animal Biology or Zoology (each with lab) courses may be substituted for those listed above

      5. General Chemistry I and II-lecture and lab, minimum of 8 semester hours:
         
        CHEM 130 General Chemistry I with Lab (4 hours) CHEM 131 General Chemistry II with Lab (4 hours)

      7. Physics I and II-lecture and lab, minimum of 8 semester hours:
         
        PHYS 185 College Physics I with Lab (4 hours) PHYS 186 College Physics II with Lab (4 hours) OR
        PHYS 195 Calculus Based Physics I with lab (4 hours) and PHYS 196 Calculus Based Physics II with lab (4 hours)
      8.  

      9. English (including Composition)-6 semester hours:
         
        ENG 190 Writing as Critical Thinking (3 hours) JINS 3xx Junior Interdisciplinary Writing Enhanced Seminar (3 hours)

      11. Identify their major emphasis of study and satisfactorily complete three upper-level courses (9 semester credit hours) towards that major prior to matriculation

      13. 16 of the 27 prerequisite science credit hours or equivalent must be completed prior to the application deadline
