The creative writing minor provides you with a strong understanding of how writers read and practice their craft. You produce original creative work across genres (fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, drama, screen writing), exploring a wide range of approaches, and learning to read like writers do. You practice a wide range of revision strategies across multiple drafts of creative work, to make your work the best it can be, and to cultivate understanding of revision as a crucial part of the writing process.

Through attendance at our readings and senior seminar presentations, you cultivate an awareness about how writers present their work, and how they can present themselves to wider audiences outside Truman.
