Recipient of Outstanding History Student Award for 2021-2022
As a student, Truman’s History Department not only gave me opportunities to be academically challenged but also cultivated my curiosity and understanding of history beyond just the classroom walls.
My professors were always willing to engage with my questions and ideas no matter if I randomly sent them an email, showed up to their office hours, or stayed late after class to chat. Their passion for history and evident love for students created a departmental atmosphere of friendliness, curiosity, and personal connections.
I knew when I signed up for a class, my professor wanted me to not only succeed academically but also be better equipped to understand the world as a whole. I loved my time at Truman, and I owe a lot of that to my history professors who made every class memorable, challenging, and extremely rewarding.
