Who Can Apply:
Sophomores or juniors with a GPA over 3.0 may apply.
Award Amount:
Up to $7,000 for tuition, room and board, and other educational expenses. Scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, books, room and board, or other specifically approved expenses. Payments may supplement, but not duplicate, benefits from other sources. Combined benefits from all sources may not exceed the costs of tuition, fees, books, and room and board as prescribed by the institution.
History:
The foundation was established in 1992 to honor Morris K. Udall for 30 years of service in the House of Representatives and enhanced by Congressional action in 2009 to honor Stewart L. Udall’s vast public service.
The purpose of this foundation is to educate a new generation of Americans who can preserve and protect their national heritage through studies in the environment and Native American health and tribal policies. The foundation is dedicated to promoting the principals and practices of the environmental conflict resolution.
How to Apply:
Notice your application will not be complete until all components are complete and received.
1. You must be nominated by your area’s faculty representative. Contact your representative to see if you may be considered for this nomination. Your representative will also be able to give you more information about the nomination process.
2. Once you are nominated by your faculty representative, you may begin the application process.
3. You will need three letters of recommendation. Recommendations should be obtained from a current or recent faculty member who can discuss the nominee’s potential; a current of recent faculty member in the nominee’s field of study; and another individual who can attest to the nominee’s capabilities.
4. You will also be required to write an 800-word or less essay.
All materials must be submitted by the appropriate due dates; keep in mind the dates for campus deadlines may be earlier.
